With two rooms and ten employees, Bigpoint began its business when Heiko Hubertz an Internet company for online games started in 2002. Nine years later Bigpoint employs 600 people from 35 countries, every month 30 to 40 new programmers, developers and graphic designers are recruited. With the move to the center of Hamburg in June 2011 Bigpoint will increase its employees to 800.
The company has been expanding for years. About 250 000 people sign up their games per day alone in 2010 and there have been 70 million players on its platform. Bigpoint has been on offer more than 60 games for all target groups, in 30 languages. The company earns money not via subscriptions or paid downloads, but with the sale of virtual goods. Bigpoint is specialized in so-called browser games that are part of online games with no download required.
Among the most popular Bigpoint games are “Farmerama“, Zoomumba, and Battlestar Galactica Online. Not only does bigpoint develop online games, but it also provide tools for game makers to integrate their games on its portal.
Bigpoint Also publishes some MMOs.
