Snail Games is one of high profile MMORPG developers and publishers, headquartered in Suzhou City, JiangSu Province in South Eastern China. Founded in October 2000, Snail Games churned out free to play up to 10 titles successively, including Voyage Century, 5 Street, The Chosen, Heroes of Gaia, Ministry of War, Throne of Fire, Bounty Bay Live, Age of Wushu, and Savage Horizon, etc.
Like most of Chinese online game developers and publishers, Snail Games’s pholoshophy is try to copy all innovative technology and ideas and become their own assets, which has been evidenced by the browser game Ministry of War, Heroes of Gaia, and even its virtual platform is 100% like Kongregate. It is predicted that Snail Games is trying to copy Kongregate’s business model using its current browser games forwarding the front-line.
Since 2008, Snail Games shifted its focus from local distribution to Overseas development. It has signed a package of contracts with world’s leading game publishers, such as, Gamigo, Kongregate, RayFlame, and etc. At that time, Snail Games established its Shanghai subsidiary as XuJiaXu district, Shanghai . Due to the worsening management and increasing costs, and even the finatial crisis, Snail Games Headquarters closed the ShangHai Office in 2009. Instead, Snail Games established another wholly-owned subsidiary in the USA in February 2010.
